Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and  geothermal heat and Biomass, which are renewable (naturally replenished).Today about 16% of global final energy consumption comes from renewable energy, with 10% emerging from the traditional biomass, which is mainly converted into fuels such as diesel, or pellets witch are mainly used for heating.

New renewable energy such as (small hydro, modern biomass, wind, solar, geothermal, and biofuels) accounted only for another 3% of world uses, but these are growing very rapidly.

The share of renewables in electricity generation is around 19%, with 16% of global electricity coming from hydroelectricity and 3% from new renewables.
